My name is Kathleen.I am Blackfoot and French. My husband of fourteen years is Arapahoe Apache and Mexican-American.We have three kids and live in an older way than most, tucked deep in the mountains of Humboldt County's Lost Coast.

I have had a love of leather since my childhood. I somehow remember a time when the smell of smoked leather from inside our teepee filled my lungs and made me happy as I knew, soon I'd being sewing. For me,each thing I make, each piece of leather I touch, is a blessing from the Great Spirit. I show thanks to the animal by making something useful as well as,I hope, something beautiful out of what might otherwise be wasted. This is an honor for me to have.

I pray that most of my leather are hides of animal that have been killed with honor.

I will continue to try and build my Native American friends for leather, thereby giving my brother and sister's a much needed income.

Each item made is different from the one before,as each hide is different and new everytime you pick it up. All of my crafts, both spiritual and material, come from some three hundred years and more ago's style for a number of different tribes. I have studied spiritualization and Native American history for thirty years and feel somewhat an authority of American Indian clothing, symbols and beliefs. I can only hope to pass something beautiful on to you.

May the Great Mother and Father guide you well, the road you walk on,stay Red.

Blessings,
Kathleen
